Camp Program Schedule:

Fencing Monday 8/14 — Thursday 8/17 (6-9pm)
Friday 8/18 — Saturday 8/19 (10am-2pm)
Monday 8/21 — Wednesday 8/23 (6-9pm)

  • Footwork and Bladework Drills Led by Alexey Yakimenko
  • Saber Referee Discussions with Olympic Referee Vlad Shamis
  • Bouting Practice with supervised strip coaching
Surf Monday 8/14 — Thursday 8/17 (10am-1pm)
Monday 8/21 — Wednesday 8/23 (10am-1pm)
  • Fitness exercises: conditioning, agility training, stretching, and footwork on the beach
  • Team Games: Volleyball, Bocce, Frisbee, Soccer, and Football
  • Swimming, Boogie Boarding, and Surfing in the Pacific Ocean

Camp Coaches:

Alexey Yakimenko
Alexey is an Individual World Champion, nine-time Team World Champion eleven-time European champion (team and individual), and team bronze medallist in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He won the Fencing World Cup series three times (2004–05, 2006–07, 2010–11), with fifteen titles to his name, and earned five gold medals in the Universiade.
Dmitriy Guy
Dmitriy is a Soviet Union National Champion, finalist at two Junior World Championships, US Open champion, two-time Maccabiah Gold Medalist. Dmitriy students have become World Champions, US Open Champions, and World Cup Medalists. Dmitriy has also been the national coach of the US fencing team for many important international competitions at the cadet, junior, and senior levels.
Vladislav Shamis
Vlad is a Two Time Olympic Saber Referee and a Member of The European Fencing Referee Commission. Vlad also competed at various high level tournaments for the Russian National Team.

Camp Assistants:

Erwin Cai
Erwin currently fences for Harvard university. He is a 2016 U17 Mixed Team World Champion, 2016 U17 Individual World Silver Medalist, Took gold at the 2015 Konin, Poland U17 World Cup.
Philippe Guy
Philippe currently fences for Harvard University. He is a Bronze medalist at the Junior World Cup team event in Phoenix, Arizona (2016). He Finished in the top 8 at the Junior North American Cup in Salt Lake City, Utah (2015) and was the Cadet Summer Nationals champion (2014).

Special Guests:

Barron Nydam
Barron has represented the United States at two Junior Fencing World Championships, and has won two silver and two bronze medals at Junior Fencing World Cups. He is a gold medalist at the Junior North American Cup. Barron has competed for the University of Notre Dame, has won a National Championship, and is a four time All American. Barron is currently an assistant coach for UCSD fencing.
Josh Runyan
Josh won the gold medal in the team event competition and won a silver medal in the individual competition at the Veteran World Championships. He also represented the US at the Armed Forces World Championships. As a coach Josh is the associate head coach and head saber coach of the UCSD fencing team. Josh’s students have gone on to become NCAA All-Americans.
Anna Yakimenko
Anna is a World Cup Champion(Russian National Team). She is also a Russian Individual National Champion.
